Proximity Beacons and Extended Learning: An Update and Extension

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

In last year's presentation we introduced proximity beacon technology as an innovation with the potential to extend learning and the application of knowledge into spaces that can extend well beyond traditional teaching, training, and learning environments. Proximity beacon technology has grown and evolved significantly in the past year. Beacons are now smaller, less expensive, and much easier to program and deploy. This presentation focuses on technology developments, our experience in deploying and evaluating this technology based on a case study, reflects on the creative uses of proximity beacons, and discusses their role in extending learning beyond traditional instructional spaces as a means of creating permanent cognitive, affective, and behavioral change among learners. Attendees will also have the opportunity to use and program beacons during the session.
