This session is for IT professionals who bring products and services to their school and who increasingly depend on an IT Security Team to support them. It will include opportunities for timely insights about current challenges and to ask questions of the Senior IT Security Officers from two schools. Topics may span a number of areas:
• The changing role of IT Security in Higher Education
• Risks that are beyond a breach, such as being non-competitive in the higher education market
• IT Security risks as a subset of University risk management
• Compliance, reputation and security challenges that face institutions today
• Communicating technical security threats to broad constituencies
• Cloud services security for today’s department applications
• How IT Security can add value to the planning, the product and the service
• Developing a strong and productive relationship with your IT Security office
• Questions you always wanted to ask your senior security officer

Join Darlene Quackenbush and Doug Streit, the senior security officers for JMU and ODU, as they speak from the perspectives of their roles as the IT Security Officers for their institutions.
