Phishing, Spear Phishing, Whaling! Universities are seemingly always under attack these days. How can we protect ourselves and the University’s assets while at the same time, minimize the impact on our customers? With Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). Join us to learn how, in a financially and resource constrained environment, George Mason University leveraged the Duo Security solution and implemented 2FA to protect both its data center assets and the Virtual Private Network (VPN) boundary layer. We will walk through the process that identified these key target areas for protection with 2FA; the decisions that factored into the 2FA solution – Mason’s culture, technical environment, and the ever-present audit finding; the development of the stakeholder and team structure, and more. We’ll wrap up by sharing our lessons learned and next steps as the solution continues to evolve and drive improvements in other areas.
