Many institutions find it challenging to manage software purchases and monitor license usage. We at VCU find it even more difficult due to the size or our institution. As vendors pricing models change and volume licensing becomes an option, we are presented with many choices. I will share with you how we began to tackle the task of identifying our license usage and the process of streamlining our Adobe purchases to reduce costs. We began with the an assessment, identifying where we are right now and what we need to do to continue to support the needs of our users. As we began to unfold the existing process, the issues became visible and quickly needed to be addressed. We began working with the institutional departments and vendors to address these issues, which exist on both sides of the isle. We accomplished many of our goals within a short period of time and will continue to monitor our usage to maximize the savings.
