The presentation would cover the mapping of JMU's physical Telecom Infrastructure using Mapcom's M4 Visual Operations System. The M4 solution is a geographic information system that uses GPS technology to accurately map and manage physical cable plant components including conduit runs, fiber optic and copper cabling, manholes, pull boxes, etc. We would present our reasons for mapping our infrastructure, touch on the RFP process, discuss the various M4 modules and GPS collection tools, outline our project plan and design, highlight potential gotchas, demo our actual M4 project (about 30 minutes), and take questions.
